UK Premiere Of Musical 'You Are Here' To Be Staged At Southwark Playhouse

The UK premiere of a new musical has been announced for Southwark Playhouse later this Spring.


You Are Here is presented by The Grey Area Theatre Company and will be performed in the venue for socially distanced audiences. One of the dates will also be live-streamed online.



With music and lyrics by Neil Bartram and a book by Brian Hill. It will star Wendi Peters (Coronation Street), with further casting to be announced.


Promising to be an intimate, hilarious and heart-breaking tour-de-force musical that will leave you cheering for the resilience of the human spirit. Its plot is as follows:


"July 20, 1969. On the night of the moon landing, Chicago housewife Diana (Wendi Peters) walks out of her comfortable suburban life for no real reason. She sees the astronauts taking that great step and is struck by the realisation that some people lead exciting lives. Suddenly alone in a fast-changing world, she finds a series of unexpected encounters can turn one small step into a giant, life-changing leap. "


Originally due to open on Thursday 29th April, the run has now been pushed bck slightly in light of government guidelines and will now open on Monday 17th May, running until Saturday 12th June. Two performances will also be live streamed on Saturday 22nd May.


If government guidance changes which does not allow for live performances to go ahead with social distancing, then all performances of You Are Here will be live-streamed and ticket holders will be contacted with details on how to watch the alternative production online or obtain a refund.
