Top 20 Shows To Check Out This Week (Feb 21st - 28th)

It's the last week of February and we are ending the month with a bang. Some absolutely massive brand new shows streaming throughout the week. Here are 20 of the best to catch over the next 8 days:


WHAT?

An original musical incorporating over two dozen of Stephen Schwartz's timeless songs including classics from Wicked, Pippin, Godspell, Rags, Children of Eden and Enchanted. This musical takes a look at how we fall in love with and the power of trusting our hearts.

WHEN?

Streaming now until Sunday 28th February, when purchasing tickets you can choose a 48 hour window to watch it

WHAT?

The Mischief Comedy Team have been keeping us entertained with their improvised livestreams where every night is a premiere. The virtual audience suggest the setting and title of a new movie and watch it unfold before their eyes. It's now time for this run to come to an end with one final stream.

The final show takes place on Sunday 21st February at 7.30pm

The 25th anniversary performance of Miss Saigon filmed at the Prince Edward Theatre in 2014 gets a couple of outings on TV this week. Starring Eva Noblezada and Alistair Brammer, if you haven't seen this before, it is a must watch.

It airs on Sunday 21st February at 9pm and on Tuesday 23rd February at 1am though you can also view it on demand through Sky

WHAT?

The 2020 virtual production starring Rachel Tucker, Rachel John, Cedric Neal and Ramin Karimloo returns for an encore run. One of my standout virtual shows of 2020, get ready for some incredible performances.

Premiering on Sunday 21st February at 8pm, it is then available on demand for a week until Sunday 28th February.

Hamiton fans unite. Lin Manuel Miranda will be joined by Amanda Gorman, Wayne Brady and Gayle King celebrating Black History Month with 'The Joy In Oiur Voices' celebrating Black and art and artists.

The event will stream on Sunday 21st February at 7pm EST which will be midnight in the UK

WHAT?

Seth Rudetsky's concert series continues with star of Tootsie and Crazy Ex Girlfriend Santino Fontana. Watch him tell stories from his career and give some unique performances.

WHEN?

The show streams live on Sunday 21st February at 8pm ET which is 1am in the UK and is repeated on Monday 22nd February at 3pm ET which is 8pm in the UK .

WHAT?

The Barn Theatre and Ryan Carter bring us an innovative piece of theatre. The Secret Society of Leading Ladies features over 150 possible combinations. Through 5 "Choose your player" opportunities, you interact to decide what you see next.

WHEN?

Streaming from Monday 22nd February until Sunday 7th March at 7.30pm, there is also the option for one day acccess to watch as many options as possible.

WHAT?

This blockbuster musical tells the story of King Arthur and features a cast of 70, epic sets and a 28 piece orchestra. This production is performed in Korean with English subtitles.

It streams from Monday 22nd until Sunday 28th February at 7.30pm each evening with matinees on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at 2.30pm.

WHAT?

A multi-location concert of new musical theatre streamed and performed live. A selection of musical theatre writers gather together for this Purim-themed digital concert that celebrates the historic triumph of good over evil. The line-up inclides Forristal & Clarke who recently won rave reviews for Public Domain as well as Six creators Toby Marlow & Lucy Moss.

WHAT?

It's a big week for Disney+ as hundreds of titles are added on to the service as part of its new "Star" brand. Theatre titles are among those included, with Baz Luhrmann's 1996 movie Romeo + Juliet and his 2001 movie Moulin Rouge, the film versions of 9 to 5, Pretty Woman and Waitress as well as the film version of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Evita starring Madonna among those available from today.

All the new content drops on Tuesday 23rd February.

WHERE?

Exclusively on Disney+.


WHAT?

The film version of the hit stage play Typical receives its world premiere on Soho Theatre on demand. Starring Richard Blackwood, this is a powerful exploration of racism and how British society stereotypes Black masculinity.

Streaming from Wednesday 24th February, it is available to view on demand. Look out for my review later in the week.

The European premiere of a new virtual dating show. Hosted by Amy Hart and Paul Taylor-Mills, contestants will be paired together in the hopes of finding true love with audiences voting through their smartphones.

This enchanting new British musical explores the extraordinary world of a sorcerer and his rebellious daughter, as she discovers the explosive possibilities of her newfound magical powers. Originally due to play for live audiences at Southwark Playhouse this year, it has been filmed at the venue instead in what will be its world premiere.

Premiering on Friday 26th February it will stream until Sunday 14th March with performances at 7pm as well as matinees on selected days at 2.30pm

The second Thespie concert this month celebrates Black musical theatre creators and features Zoe Birkett, Waylon Jacobs and Aisha Jawando among others.

WHAT?

The classic novel The Great Gatsby gets a musical adaptation filmed at Cadogan Hall. Starring Jodie Steele, Liam Doyle, Ross William Wild, Blake Patrick Anderson and Emma Williams, as well as the normal stream there is also VIP access which takes you backstage with the cast.

WHAT?

The second of the West End Musical Drive In concerts from last year to stream online. This one stars Grace Mouat, Natalie May Paris, Sophie Isaacs and Courtney Bowman among others.

The Showstoppers are back for another livestream. The virtual audience come up with the theme, setting, musical styles and title of the show and watch it unfold before their very eyes
