This Weeks Must See Streams

Has everyone recovered from last week? That was a brilliant week for online theatre with some of the titles still available online now. It's another week of massive shows, with a little known show called Hamilton among the titles coming online. So here are the best shows to watch online this week:

WHAT?

This weeks The Shows Must Go On title has been announced and it's certainly unexpected. Fighting off accusations that Universal are running out of titles to stream after last weeks encore performance of The Sound Of Music, this weeks title is... drumroll please.... Celtic Tiger. You what? This show starring Michael Flatley, Lord of the Dance (his full name) was filmed in 2005. Certainly unexpected but theatre is nothing if not about diversity. I might sit this one out and choose another title to review this weekend though.

WHEN?

Catch it on Friday 3rd July at 7pm for 48 hours only.

WHERE?

WHAT?

Let's get right to it. You no longer have to wait for it, this week you too can be in the room where it happens (only you'll be in your own room with this happening on your TV). If you have been living under a rock for the past few years, Hamilton has been the most in demand musical of the Century and tells the story of Alexander Hamilton. His name is Alexander Hamilton. Telling the story of his life with the founding fathers of the USA, the music, the choreography and the staging are what makes this show so special. This was due to be released in cinemas in October 2021 but was pulled forward 15 months to give us all something to look forward to. I will be writing a review of this filmed production this weekend (Be very surprised if I don't give it 5 stars)

WHEN?

This will become available from 8am (UK time) on Friday 3rd July and will be there for the forseeable future.

WHERE?

Available exclusively on Disney+ . If you don't have a subscription, sign up for £5.99 a month. That's still a lot cheaper than buying a ticket for the show.

WHAT?

This virtual production of Sebastian Faulks' Birdsong will be filmed in isolation with visual effects and actors wearing costumes.

WHEN?

Available from Wednesday 1st July at 7pm for 72 hours only.

WHERE?

Tickets can be purchased from www.birdsongonline.co.uk

WHAT?

National Theatre have been killing it with their At Home series over the last few months. This weeks title is no exception with the never before seen archive recording of Les Blancs which tells the story of racial tensions as a family and a nation fall apart. Sounds timely!

WHEN?

This will be available from 7pm on Thursday 2nd July for one week only. In the meantime, you can still catch A Midsummer Nights Dream on their youtube channel.

WHERE?

WHAT?

The biggest theatre production since lockdown begun, Lungs stars Matt Smith and Claire Foy reprising their roles at the Old Vic in an empty auditorium. Each performance will be streamed completely live with them on stage every time.

WHEN?

Performances started las week and continue until Saturday 4th July.

WHERE?

WHAT?

The amazing weekly series created by In The Wings, showcasing four new musicals that were sadly postponed due to the pandemic comes to a close this week with the intriguing Dorian: A Rock Musical, based on the iconic tale of Dorian Gray and his portrait.

WHEN?

It will be available from Friday 3rd July at 7.30pm

WHERE?

WHAT?

Still available online for a few more days, The Grinning Man was one of the most anticipated titles to stream during the pandemic. While it may have fallen a bit flat for me (Have a look at my review) it is still well loved by countless people and has some great things going for it such as its incredible lead actors and brilliant staging. I'd still recommend watching it

WHEN?

Available now until Friday 3rd July.
