The Best Theatre To Watch This Week (May 9th - 15th)

There is just one week to go until theatres start reopening their doors. That doesn't mean there isn't some great shows to get us this last week - with some fantastic new titles as well as another chance to see some of the best virtual shows from the past few months. Here are some of the best to catch this week:


WHAT?

Seth Rudetsky continues his long running series bringing some of the biggest stars from Broadway direct to your home. This week it's the turn of Chicago and Forbidden Broadway star Christine Pedi.

WHEN?

The show takes place live on Sunday 9th May at 3pm ET which is 8pm in the UK and is repeated that evening at 8pm ET which is 1am in the UK .

WHAT?

Join West End and Drag Race UK star Divina De Campo for an hour of fan alongside special guests Layton Williams, Joel Harper Jackson and Harriet Thorpe.

WHEN?

There are two chances to stream it - on Sunday 9th May at 7pm and Friday 14th May at 8pm

WHAT?

Another chance to see Curve Leicester's fantastic streamed production of Andrew Lloyd Webbers classic. One of the virtual highlights of 2020, this production sees Ria Jones reprise her role as the iconic Norma Desmond alongside a cast including Danny Mac and Molly Lynch.

It streams at various times from Monday 10th until Saturday 15th May

Another chance to see Tyger Drew-Honey and Kirsten Foster star in Shaun McKenna's brand new thriller - a compelling story of revenge and redemption. First broadcast live last week, it is now available to view on demand.

WHAT?

Creation Theatre have partnered with Watford Palace Theatre to launch an innovative choose your own adventure style adaptation of the Shakespeare classic - putting the audience at the heart of the action

WHEN?

It runs from Wednesday 12th until Tuesday 23rd May.

WHAT?

The Broadway Cast Reunion Series gives audiences a chance to do what they may never have done before: visit “backstage” with the cast and even ask questions via the chat feature. Tonights features the cast of My Fair Lady.

The online self-isolation play series Love In The Lockdown continues with the release of the next 2 episodes of the nine part series this week.

WHEN?

Episode 7 launches on Thursday 13th May with episode 8 following on Saturday 15th

WHAT?

Fans of the snappily titled High School Musical: The Musical: The Series will be thrilled to hear that the musical: series is back this week kicking off its second season.

Season 2 kicks off with the first episode launching on Friday 14th May

WHAT?

Another chance to catch the brand new musical by Joey Contreras which boasts a cast including Jordan Luke Gage, Danielle Steers and Hiba Elchikhe. A New York love story which talks about our love lives constantly being in pieces, this really is a phenomenal show.

You can stream it from Friday 14th until Friday 28th May

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Jellicle Ball, there's another chance to see the filmed production of Cats (No, not the recent movie thankfully) starring Elaine Paige .

This week there's another chance to catch some live theatre with another outdoor concert from West End Musical Drive In. This weeks lineup is to be announced.

The concert takes place on Saturday 15th May at 2.30pm

West End and Broadway star Rachel Tucker will launch her new EP with a streamed studio gig. The concert will feature her own original music alongside some classics that have captured her heart over the last year.

Following the success of last year’s glitterfest, The Showstoppers are presenting the ‘Alternative Eurovision Song Contest’ for a second year, joined by an all-star cast of celebrities including actor Les Dennis, comedian Russell Kane, comedian London Hughes and cabaret star Le Gateau Chocolat as judges
