The Best Stagey Shows To Watch This Week

Updated: Aug 3, 2020

It's a brand new week and a brand new month which means, you guessed it, brand new stagey content. It might be a bit of a quiet week in comparison to some others we've had but there is still some fantastic content being made available this week so take a look at what's on offer:

WHAT?

If you're getting a sense of deja vu, yes this was on my post last week when it was originally due to be shown. However due to star Andrew Scott having minor surgery it got delayed and will now take place this week. The show follows The Old Vic's hit broadcast of Lungs and will be streamed live from the venue. Three Kings is a brand new play by Stephen Beresford and stars Andrew Scott reflecting on the role his father played in shaping his own life after years of being absent.

WHEN?

Following the change in dates, the show will now be live streaming for three performances from Friday 7th August to Saturday 8th August at 7.30pm each night with a matinee at 3.30pm on Saturday.

HOW (Much)?

Tickets are available from £20 for most performances.

The Old Vic have two offerings for us this week. Their second title is Jekyll & Hyde. Directed and choreographed by Dew McOnie, this dance thriller is inspired by Robert Louis Stevensons classic story. The show originally played at the Old Vic in 2016 but will now be available to watch for the first time.

WHEN?

The show goes live on Wednesday 5th August at 7pm and will be available to watch for one week.

WHAT?

Broadway, TV and film star Cheyenne Jackson was due to make his UK debut in a concert at Cadogan Hall before the pandemic came and switched everything up. If you were gutted that didn't go ahead, you'll love that he is this weeks star in Seth Rudetsky's weekly concert series.

WHEN?

The show goes out live on Sunday 2nd August at 8pm ET which is 1am on the Monday in the UK. It is repeated at the more sensible time of 8pm in the UK on Monday 3rd August.

HOW (Much)?

Tickets cost $25 but can be purchased for $20 with the discount code CHEYENNE20.

This week marks the final installment of Alice Fearn's brilliant four part series Intermissions. Filmed in her garden, the past three installments featuring Shan Ako, Sam Tutty amd Rob Houchen plus special guests including Rachel Tucker are available to rewatch from the link below. The final installment is Girls Aloud turned musical theatre star Kimberley Walsh, ahead of our exciting return to the stage in Sleepless later this month. Expect chat and music but don't hold your breath for a blast of 'Sound of the underground' though stranger things have happened.

WHEN?

Available Friday 7th August at 7pm. The performances are available to view online for a short while after if you miss it live.

HOW (Much)?

Tickets cost £9 or £15 for VIP access including an after party zoom call. All four shows can be booked together for £29.50.

The show will see Dominic chat with the Barn theatre producer Jamie Chapman Dixon about his career so far and will include special performances from a glittering cast including Waylon Jacobs, Maiya Quansah-Breed, Courtney Stapleton and Oliver Savile among others. After this, there will be a concert celebrating the music of Gus Gowland two weeks later.

WHEN?

The concert will debut on Saturday 8th August at 7.30pm.

WHERE?

The series is available on the Barn Theatre’s Facebook and YouTube channels

The concert takes place on Saturday 8th August at 7pm.
