The Best New Shows To Stream This Week

Welcome to a brand new week in the neverending ride that is 2020.

We are now in that in-between stage where several theatres have announced plans to reopen next month but the weekly streaming series' from both National Theatre At Home and The Shows Must Go On have come to an end.

Does that mean there isn't much to watch this week?

Course not!

This week rather than a host of past shows, we're being treated to a wealth of brand new shows recorded during lockdown or in some cases live!

Here are 8 of the best to catch this week:

WHAT?

Following the success olf The Last Five Years last month, Lambert Jackson have adapted another Jason Robert Brown show into an online stream. With an incredible cast featuring Rachel John and Cedric Neal who both blew the Internet away with the recent Turn Up and Hello Harry concerts as well as the ridiculously talented Rachel Tucker and Ramin Karimloo, this is without a doubt the must see show of the week. The show itself features a string of seemingly unrelated songs with the connection of a moment of decision. Look out for my review of this at the end of the week.

WHEN?

The show has been recorded in isolation and will stream on three consecutive nights between Thursday 23rd and Saturday 25th July at 7.30pm each night.

HOW (Much)?

Tickets cost £12.50

WHERE?

Tickets need to be bought in advance from https://lwtheatres.co.uk/whats-on/songs-for-a-new-world/ - you will be emailed the link to watch the show on the day.

WHAT?

If you haven't seen Showstopper! before, you are really missing out. Each performance is created on the spot with suggestions from the audience on the story, song styles and title. Past ones I've seen myself include a Jewish wedding called 'I Jew' and a singles cruise ship called 'Tinder-tanic'. The one thing each show has had in common is its sheer genius and hilarity throughout. The team are now back to perform an improvised musical live and online. The audience will still be in charge of what happens, just from the comfort of your own homes. If you are in need of a good laugh., this will be just what the doctor ordered.

WHEN?

The show goes out live on Tuesday 21st July at 7.30pm.

HOW (Much)?

Tickets cost £5.86 for concessions or £8.53 full price

WHAT?

Christina Bianco is the woman of a thousand voices - all of them brilliant. If you have ever seen her live, you will know she can go from Kristin Chenoweth to Celine Dion to Karen from Will & Grace in a matter of moments and each impression is spot on. She also loves an unlikely interpretation where she puts a voice with a song they would never usually sing - the results are always hilarious! This week, Christina is doing a live concert with a theatre theme. Expect moments from Forbidden Broadway, her impressions of legends like Idina Menzel and Bernadette Peters and if we're lucky, maybe even a performance form her recent srarring role as Fanny Brice in Funny Girl.

WHEN?

The concert takes place on Thursday 23rd July at 3pm EDT which is 8pm in the UK.

HOW (Much)?

Tickets are free but donations to TDF Lifeline Camapaign are encouraged to https://give.tdf.org
