March Preview: 50 Shows To Make Your Month

A new month is here, and March seems to be an especially busy one for new openings in theatre - so much so that cutting this down to my usual 40 was impossible. Instead, I’ve opted for a bumper 50 offerings of new and exciting shows to catch all over the UK this month:
SEA WITCH (Theatre Royal Drury Lane)

1st March
Theatre Royal Drury Lane has been the place to be on Sunday nights in February, and that continues in March with the world premiere of this musical acting as a prequel to The Little Mermaid, and starring Natalie May Paris, Amy Di Bartolomeo, Natalie Kassanga, Jay MCGuinness, Michelle Visage and Mazz Murray.
THE MESMERIST (Watford Palace Theatre)

2nd - 21st March
Prepare for magic, mystery and unforgettable theatre as multi-talented actor, comedian and presenter Rufus Hound takes centre stage! as he takes his family history and weaves in the discovery that his granddad had been a magician with the stage name The Mesmerist.
THE BALLAD OF JOHNNY AND JUNE (UK & Ireland Tour)

2nd March - 19th September
The electrifying new musical celebrating Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash stars Christopher Ryan Grant and Christina Bianco in a show packed with a soundtrack of beloved hits.

GIVE HER MY LOVE (Barons Court Theatre)

3rd - 14th March
Told through intimate monologues and tense duologues, the play follows Ava and Dodi after a turbulent year together. As they separate, each embarks on a different emotional journey.

THE LAST DAYS OF LIZ TRUSS? (The Other Palace Studio)

3rd - 15th March
After two critically acclaimed and sold-out runs at Kennington’s White Bear Theatre. The award-winning production transfers as we join Liz on her last morning at number 10.
THE UNCONTAINABLE NAUSEA OF ALEC BALDWIN (New Diorama Theatre)

3rd - 24th March
An absurdist, existential examination of the psychological and physical unravelling of Alec Baldwin – not the real one – as he grapples with a pervasive sense of nausea towards himself and the desensitised digital society he inhabits.
AGGY/TELL ME STRAIGHT (Park Theatre)

3rd - 28th March
Following sold-out runs at The King’s Head and Chiswick Playhouse, Paul Bradshaw’s multi award-winning debut play is back, this time joined with new offering aggy, a bold one-act play exploring privilege, gender, race and creativity.

AGE IS A FEELING (Soho Theatre Walthamstow)

5th - 7th March
Inspired by hospices, mystics and trips to the cemetery, this never-the-same-twice show wrestles with our endless chances to change course while we’re alive. A covert rallying cry against cynicism and regret. A call to seize our time.

SUGAR DADDY (Underbelly Boulevard)

5th March - 4th April
Part stand-up, part storytelling, and part emotional excavation, this outrageous, deeply human story involving: love and loss, seagull attacks, New York muggers, unexpected encounters with Jehovah’s Witnesses, and a surprise diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes.is both shockingly funny and unexpectedly romantic.
MANIC STREET CREATURE (Kiln Theatre)

5th - 28th March
This soaring piece of gig theatre from Maimuna Memon brings a raw and powerful insight into first love, co-dependence and mental health care- but most of all, how music can help us start again.
I’M EVERY WOMAN: THE MUSICAL (Peacock Theatre)

5th - 28th March
The incredible untold life, story and music of Chaka Khan is the subject of this brand new musical, with Alexandra Burke leading the cast. Following a London run, it heads to Coventry and Eastbourne.

YENTL (Marylebone Theatre)

6th March - 12th April
Following a run at Sydney Opera House, Kadimah Yiddish Theatre’s acclaimed production transfers to London thrilling new bilingual staging reimagines Isaac Bashevis Singer’s revolutionary tale with urgency, intimacy and a vibrant celebration of Yiddish culture.
R.O.I (RETURN ON INVESTMENT) (Hampstead Theatre)

6th March - 11th April
Provocative, darkly funny and disturbingly plausible, Aaron Loeb’s play questions ethics, ownership and the cost of innovation.
SUMMERFOLK (Olivier Theatre)

6th March - 29th April
Maxim Gorky’s razor-sharp portrait of class, privilege and denial is revived for 2026 in a new adaptation from Nina Raine and Moses Raine.
AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL (King’s Head Theatre)

9th - 21st March
An exclusive collection of savage short plays offering a uniquely skewed view of life and relationships in the modern world.
CHILDREN OF THE NIGHT (Southwark Playhouse Borough)

11th March - 4th April
A love letter to the working-class cultural pulse of the North, mixing kitchen-sink drama with spoken-word dance-floor euphoria.
PUNCH (UK Tour)

13th March - 18th April
After acclaimed runs in the West End and on Broadway, James Graham's extraordinary true story of Jacob Dunne’s in a gripping, high-energy and deeply moving production returns to its hometown of Nottingham to kick off its first UK tour.

The 50th anniversary revival of David Hare’s rebel play stars Rebecca Lucy Taylor as Maggie Frisby.
HENRY V (Royal Shakespeare Theatre)

14th - 25th March
Co-Artistic Director Tamara Harvey directs Alfred Enoch, who returns to the RSC as Shakespeare’s rebellious, carefree young man who becomes the King of England overnight.

A MIRRORED MONET (Charing Cross Theatre)

14th March - 9th May
Jeff Shankley and Dean John-Wilson star in the London premiere of this new musical about the man behind the masterpiece, inspired by letters and diaries from Monet and his peers.
VINCENT IN BRIXTON (Orange Tree Theatre)

14th March - 18th April
The first major revival of Nicholas Wright’s Olivier Award-winning play is set in 1873, when Ursula’s modest boarding house is disrupted by the unexpected arrival of a young lodger by the name of Vincent Van Gogh.
THE GREATEST SHOWMAN (Bristol Hippodrome)

15th March - 10th May
Oliver Tompsett and Samantha Barks lead the cast as P.T. and Charity Barnum in the world premiere stage adaptation based on the smash-hit film. Featuring all the original songs from Pasek and Paul alongside new additions, it plays a strictly limited run in Bristol, which has now completely sold out, but don’t be surprised if that’s not the last you see of the show next year.

JAJA’S AFRICAN HAIR BRAIDING (Lyric Hammersmith)

18th March - 25th April
The UK premiere of this Tony Award-winning comedy is set in a bustling Harlem braiding salon is where neighbourhood women come to have their greatest hairstyle dreams come true, all in the hands of a lively group of West African, immigrant braiders.
