London Theatre Week is back and bigger than ever, and if you think you’ve missed your chance to bag yourself a bargain, think again as the fantastic offer has extended by a week.
This year’s offering features over 75 shows with tickets available from just £15, £25, £35 or £45. Here are just a few of the many highlights on offer:
For all the musical theatre lovers among us, you can get yourself a ticket to an old favourite with long-running classics including Wicked, The Lion King, Hamilton and The Phantom Of The Opera all part of the offer. They are joined by some of the newer offerings in the West End including Why Am I So Single, MJ The Musical and Kathy & Stella Solve A Murder.
Movie lovers can see the musical adaptations of some absolute classics with the newly opened Mean Girls joining recent favourites Back To The Future and Mrs Doubtfire as some of the titles lighting up the West End with new twists on titles that have entertained us for decades!
Even more exciting, some brand new musicals that are yet to open are included such as the Young Vic’s brand new musical A Face In The Crowd, featuring music from Elvis Costello, and the long-awaited West End transfer of the critically acclaimed The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button.
It’s your last chance to see some of these fabulous shows with Hello, Dolly! wrapping up its limited run on September 14th, the incredible and emotional rollercoaster that is Next To Normal checking out of the West End on September 21st and Guys & Dolls rocking the boat at the Bridge Theatre for the last time on 4th January
If you’re after a play, you can get a great deal on the longest-running one in the world, The Mousetrap and find out for yourself whodunnit. One of the biggest openings in the last year is the mega-hit and soon-to-be-seen on Broadway, Stranger Things: The First Shadow. Part of the story that has seen the Netflix TV series turn the world upside down, it is also said to hold the key to the end of the series. On a personal level, this show blew me away for the special effects alone!
As the nights get darker, you may fancy a good laugh and with hilarious comedies The Play That Goes Wrong and Fawlty Towers part of the offer, they have got you covered on that front. Another recommendation would be the improvised comedy Showstopper! – creating a musical on the spot based on a handful of audience suggestions, it is every bit as entertaining as it is impressive.
It’s not just the West End on offer. You can head further out to London Bridge to check out two offerings at the Menier Chocolate Factory – the Stephen Schwartz musical The Baker’s Wife starring Lucie Jones until 14th September or political comedy The Cabinet Minister from 21st September. Head to Wembley to see Andrew Lloyd Webber’s big, bold and brilliant revival of Starlight Express – because sometimes all you want from a show is a singing, skating steam engine!
Those are some of my top recommendations among this list but it is barely scratching the surface. There really is something for everyone among this list so have a look and prepare to discover your next obsession… or just revisit an old favourite!
Tickets for all of these shows are but be quick as this offer isn’t on for much longer. Head to https://www.londonboxoffice.co.uk/london-theatre-week to see the full listings and get your tickets while the offer is still on.
