June Preview: All The Best Theatre To See This Month

Theatres have been open for a couple of weeks now and more are following suit. June sees the arrival of more shows in the West End and around the country. From June 21st some shows are tentatively planning to open at full capacity but this is dependant on the Governments announcement. All shows prior to that are at reduced capacity.


Here are the best shows to get you through June in person, online and even in the cinema!


June 1st - 5th, 25th - 26th: HOW TO LIVE A JELLICLE LIFE

Back following a sold out run, Linus Karp brings you life lessons from the 2019 movie Cats in this one man show kicking off a new tour with dates in London and Cambridge this month. Tickets from https://linktr.ee/jellicle


June 2nd - July 1st: KINKY BOOTS

June 2nd - 5th: THE TURNIP FIELD

A brand new play by Catherine O'Reilly and Tim Churchill is a heartrending and funny two-hander which runs at the Turbine Theatre in Battersea for a limited run. Tickets from https://www.theturbinetheatre.com/


June 2nd-6th: THE SHOW MUST GO ON!

After being delayed multiple times, the concert celebrating all of the returning West End shows plays the Palace Theatre for 7 performances only. June 3rd onwards: CABARET ALL STARS

June 4th: MARISHA WALLACE

June 5th - 20th: HUSHABYE MOUNTAIN

Acclaimed writer Jonathan Harvey brings a world full of love, pain, laughter and friendship, where drugs in their various combinations are exhilarating, destructive, costly and even life restoring online for a streamed production starring Matt Henry, Jodie Prenger and Layton Williams. June 5th - 12th: A STARRY NIGHT IN

Every Sunday from June 6th: THE SETH CONCERT SERIES

Make a date in your diaries every Sunday night as Seth Rudetsky continues his series bringing us the best Broadway stars direct to our homes. June 7th - 19th: THE MUSIC OF ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER Curve Leicester present a concert celebrating the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber with performances and stories from Madalena Alberto, Jessica Daley, Tim Howar, Shem Omari James, Ria Jones, Karen Mavundukure and Tim Rogers. June 7th: PRIDE AT THE PALACE

For one night only, a host of Queer stars from the West End and beyond come together to celebrate their Pride in a spectacular concert. June 7th: CASSIDY JANSON UNPLUGGED

June 7th - 13th: ALYSSA: MEMOIRS OF A QUEEN

June 8th - July 31st: A SPLINTER OF ICE

The UK tour of Ben Brown's new political drama opens in Malvern and will tour until the end of July. Set in Moscow in 1987 after the cold war begins to thaw, for tickets see www.originaltheatre.com


June 9th: LEGENDS OF LOCKDOWN

June 10th - 13th: WEST END MUSICAL CELEBRATION

June 10th - July 3rd: PSYCHODRAMA

June 9th - 12th, 15th - July 10th: JEEVES & WOOSTER IN PERFECT NONSENSE

A new play from the works of PG Wodehouse. Three actors hurl themselves from role to role as they race to tell the story of Bertie’s own farcical adventures. June 10th: LEE MEAD

June 11th: IN THE HEIGHTS

The movie adaptation of Lin Manuel Miranda's In The Heights hits cinemas today (though Sky are offering previews for June 7th). Available on HBO Max in America today and previewing at Cineworld for one day only ahead of its full UK release on June 18th.


June 11th - July 25th: HAPPY DAYS

Riverside Studios in Hammersmith plays host to a 60th anniversary production of Samuel Beckett’s world-renowned play. Directed by Trevor Nunn, it stars Lisa Dwan as Winnie. Tickets from https://riversidestudios.co.uk/


June 12th: CHRISTY ALTOMARE IN CONCERT

June 13th: HAIR IN CONCERT

June 13th: KELLI O'HARA

June 13th - 27th: 34

A one man musical with a pop infused score, 34 tells the story of a young gay man navigating life and love in Belfast while wrestling with the politics, relationships and the pull of the place he calls home. June 13th: SUNSET BOULEVARD

June 18th: THE THEATRE CHANNEL

Episode 7 of The Theatre Channel is in collaboration with Regent's Park Open Air Theatre and focusing on Rodgers & Hammerstein. June 18th - 19th: LADY CHATTERLEY'S LOVER

June 18th - September 12th: CONSTELLATIONS

This summer Nick Payne‘s beautiful and heartbreaking romance is revived in the West End with different casts taking turns to journey through the multiverse exploring the infinite possibilities of a relationship. June 21st - September 29th: HAIRSPRAY

After a series of delays, Hairspray finally heads to the London Coliseum with a cast including MIchael Ball, Marisha Wallace and Lizzie Bea. Opening with socially distanced performances until July 20th when it plans to move to full capacity. Tickets from https://londoncoliseum.org/


June 21st & 28th: THE DISTANCE YOU HAVE COME

June 21st: RIDE

June 21st - September 12th: HEATHERS

June 23rd - July 2nd: CHARLES COURT OPERA EXPRESS G&S

June 23rd - July 10th: BAD NIGHTS AND ODD DAYS

For the first time in nearly 50 years, Staircase by Charles Dyer will return to London. June 23rd - September 9th: BACH & SONS

June 24th: BROADWAY CAST REUNION A BRONX TALE

From June 25th: CINDERELLA

June 28th: WONDERBIRDS LIVE
