June is bustin’ out all over - and there’s no shortage of new shows also bustin’ out to begin your summer - not just in the West End but all over the UK. Here are 40 shows to catch this month:


OUR COSMIC DUST (Park Theatre)



2nd June - 5th July


Making its English-language debut, this three-time award-winning production blends intricate puppetry, hand-drawn illustrations, and inventive video design to craft a visually stunning and delightfully unexpected theatrical experience.



tick, tick… BOOM! (Theatre Clwyd)



2nd – 28th June

 

Theatre Clwyd Artistic Director Kate Wasserberg directs Jonathan Larsson’s musical about the exciting mess of being young, chasing your dreams and reaching for greatness.

 


SCOUTS! THE MUSICAL (UK Tour)



3rd - 29th June


This family-friendly show returns for its final ever run on a tour heading to Birmingham, Manchester, London and Bath through the month.



STOREHOUSE (Deptford Storehouse)



4th June - 20th September


This groundbreaking new immersive production will see audiences step into a 9000 square metre underworld where humanity’s stories have been archived since the dawn of the internet with performers joined by voiceover actors.



LONDON ROAD (Olivier Theatre)

 


5th – 21st June

 

Originally directed by Rufus Norris in 2011, the musical makes a long-awaited return as part of his final season as Artistic Director for National Theatre.

 

 

STARS: AN AFROFUTURIST SPACE ODYSSEY (Brixton House)



5th - 28th June


The hilarious and moving new play celebrating Black and Queer empowerment and arousal is performed as a concept album on stage with a live DJ  and projected animations.



HERCULES (Theatre Royal Drury Lane)



From 6th June

 

Inspired by the animated Disney film, based on the ancient myth, Hercules  heads to the stage with Luke Brady taking on the title role as he realises going from zero to hero might take a different kind of strength.

 

 

LOVESTUCK (Stratford East)



6th June - 12th July


Charting the hilarious, humiliating and all too relatable quest for our happy ever after,  this new musical boasts a catchy score as big as its heart.



ANNA KARENINA (Chichester Festival Theatre)



7th - 28th June


Natalie Dormer leads the cast in this new adaptation of Tolstoy’s romantic masterpiece written and directed by Phillip Breen. This witty and sensual version – blending period dress with a contemporary tone – is a surprisingly funny, romantic and unforgettable portrait of infidelity, passion and the search for fulfilment.

BETTIE PAGE, QUEEN OF PIN-UPS (Lyric Theatre)



9th June


Shona McGarty stars in the titular role in this revealing new bio-musical tells the story of the original revolutionary pin-up model, and pop culture icon, hitting the West End in a concert version for one night only.



GODZ (Peacock Theatre)



11th - 14th June


Australia’s multi-award winning acrobatic troupe wreak havoc on London audiences, taking their unique mix of storytelling, circus and physical prowess to Godlike proportions and providing a sneak peek into the lives of the ancient Gods of Olympus.



4.48 PSYCHOSIS (Royal Court/The Other Place)



 

12th June – 5th July/10th – 27th July

 

The original cast and creative team re-visit Sarah Kane’s final masterpiece 25 years on with runs at the Royal Court in London and the RSC in Stratford-upon-Avon with the final performance taking place at 4.48am

 


THE MINISTRY OF LESBIAN AFFAIRS (Kiln Theatre)



13th June - 12th July


Iman Qureshi’s musical comedy about community, belonging, and the power of finding your voice returns, following its sold-out premiere at Soho Theatre in 2022.

54:60 AFRICA (Arcola Theatre)

Tracing the journey of 11 characters across a continent, this exhilarating new play features live music, song, and dance. 



EVITA (London Palladium)



14th June – 6th September

 

Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s classic musical returns to the West End in a production directed by Jamie Lloyd and starring Rachel Zegler in the lead role.

 

 

HADLEY FRASER (Cadogan Hall)



15th June


Acclaimed West End and Broadway star Hadley Fraser takes centre stage, performing songs from his latest album alongside other musical theatre favourites, joined by Rosalie Craig, Natalie May Paris and Maiya Quansah-Breed

DIAMONDS AND DUST (Emerald Theatre)

Opening London’s newest West End venue, Faye Tozer takes on the iconic roles of Miss KItty LeRoy in the world premiere thrilling blend of Old West lore, vintage casino culture, high-stakes stunts and Dita Von Teese’s signature glamour.

WHO IS CLAUDE CAHUN? (Southwark Playhouse Borough)

This gripping production tells the true story of a Jewish lesbian artist who defied the Nazi regime through acts of artistic resistance in Jersey during WWII. 



THIS BITTER EARTH (Soho Theatre)

Billy Porter makes his London debut as director in this intimate, romantic and gripping play about a young black writer and his white activist lover that asks, “What is the real cost of standing on the sidelines?”

This fierce and tragi-gorgeous comedy musical is a true story about expectations, masculinity, privilege and failure on an epic scale. It’s about feeling desperately weird and alone but knowing that to fit in would cost you everything.



INTIMATE APPAREL (Donmar Warehouse)

Pulitzer prize-winning writer Lynn Nottage reunites with director Lynette Linton for this new production of one of Nottage’s most acclaimed plays starring Samira Wiley as Esther.

 


THE CONSTANT WIFE (The Swan)

Based on the 1926 play by W. Somerset Maugham, Laura Wade’s new version stars Rose Leslie in the role of Constance Middleton.

Telling the story of former tennis champ Jimmy Connors, this fast-paced, funny and intensely physical ride goes deep inside the mind of an ageing, swaggering alpha.



POTTY THE PLANT (Wilton’s Music Hall)



24th - 28th June


This glorious musical comedy makes its London debut in this genre-defying, expectation-subverting, genuinely hilarious blast of musical mayhem. 



JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR (Watermill Theatre)



24th June - 21st September


This reimagining of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s extraordinary rock opera spills out of the theatre into the gardens, immersing audiences into the heart of this epic musical with an ensemble cast of actor-musicians.

The Tony and Olivier Award-winner returns to its original home with Colin Bates and Katie Brayben among the cast taking on Conor McPherson’s musical featuring the songs of Bob Dylan.

The Who’s iconic album that inspired the cult classic film is back as an explosive dance production, arriving in Sadler’s Wells this month as part of a UK tour.

An all new production of the musical bursts onto the stage with colour, glitz and energy, featuring over 30 hits from the 1960s.



ORPHEUS DESCENDING (Cockpit Theatre)



25th - 29th June


The debut production of Conjure Productions, dedicated to staging modern classics, is a take on Tennessee Williams classic, directed by Anna Barkan.



INDIGO (Curve Leicester)



26th June - 19th July


The UK premiere has music and lyrics by Scott Evan Davus and a book by Kait Kerrigan. It tells the story of three generations of women navigating their need to reach one another.

The stage adaptation of Malorie Blackman’s much-loved novel is a bittersweet love story is revived for the London stage in this brand-new production.

Having run online for almost three years, the first concert from West End Introducing sees new talent perform with established musical theatre performers, with Laura Pick, Adrian Hansel and Elena Breschi among the names performing.
