It's Showtime! Beetlejuice Comes To Life In The West End

by Daz Gale

It's been a long time coming, but Beetlejuice has finally opened in London after a wait that felt like an entire lifetime.

I don't often get to go first nights anymore, but I knew I had to be there in person to see the ghost with the most take his first bow. For my full review of the show, you'll have to check back next week when my review will go up after press night on Thursday 28th May. What I can offer you instead is a photo-heavy look and some key information from the first night as well as a few tips:

Here's a look at the theatre from the outside.

Tip: There's a great photo op on the side of the building as you're queuing up. Expect doors to open around 6,30pm for an evening performance.

There is a great selection of merchandise available to purchase, including a normal A5 programme and a glossy A4 brochure, as well as t-shirts. mugs, magnets and even a plush sandworm - what more could you want?

It was refreshing to see the prices a bit less than a lot of other West End shows as well.

Here is the selection and prices:

Tip: If the queue is too long, there is another merchandise stand downstairs on the stalls level

Upon entering the theatre, you are greeted with a flashing sign on stage and atmospheric music that gets you in the mood.

The interval is just as atmospheric, with lighting stretching around the theatre, and this stage greeting you before the show continues

And what about the show itself?

Well, my lips are sealed until I review it next week, but I can say it is a very slick production for a first preview, and I had a smile on my face the entire time.

Anyone who has seen it on Broadway will notice a few changes for this production, with some British references, including one in particular that gave me the biggest laugh of the night.

In terms of staging, this isn't quite the same as the original Broadway one with no trap doors, but you can still expect some great effects.

Tip: There are good sightlines from most seats at the Prince Edward Theatre. I was sitting on an aisle on the left-hand side of the stalls, and there wasn't a single restriction. In this theatre in particular, the Loge seats in the dress circle are a particularly great place to sit.

Here's the curtain call from the first preview on Wednesday 20th May 2026.

Come back next week to see my full review of Beetlejuice.
