George Salazar & Audra McDonald To Star In New Anti-Bullying Musical 'Sticks & Stones'

Initial casting has been announced for a concert of a brand new musical. Sticks & Stones was created by John McDaniel and Scott Logsdon and adapts the classic Biblical story of David and Goliath to make it about teen bullying.

An online highlights concert of the musical will be broadcast in October to coincide with National Bullying Prevention Month. The concert will star Joshua Colley from Les Miserables and Newsies as David, George Salazar from Be More Chill as King Saul and legendary Broadway star Audra McDonald as Nizevet, David's mother. The majority of the rest of the cast will be made up of 96 young performers from across the United States via video submissions. The creators are looking for people of all ethnicities, body types, and gender identities as well as performers with disabilities, including deaf actors who use ASL.

The concert will serve as a benefit to youth wellness with all proceeds going to support Lady Gaga's Born This Way Foundation

This looks interesting - as I've said before, new musicals are always welcome, and this one sounds like it is going to carry a necessarily inspirational message.
