The movie adaptation of Dear Evan Hansen has been given a release date... and it's a lot sooner than most of us expected.
The film version of the smash hit Broadway and West End musical will be released on September 24th 2021.
Ben Platt reprises his role as Evan Hansen and is joined in the movie by Julianne Moore playing his mother, Heidi, Amy Adams playing Cynthia, Danny Pino in a revised version of the character Larry, Kaitlyn Dever as Zoe, Colton Ryan as Connor, Nik Dodani as Jared and Amandla Stenberg in an expanded role of Alana. New characters have been added to the movie as well as at least one new song.
Filming took place late last year and looked like it had been completed in December. While delays may have been expected due to the uncertain climate, this one is on track and will actually debut in cinemas before the delayed new adaptation of West Side Story.
Expect the first teaser trailer fairly soon.
Can't wait for this one - let's hope it lives up to the show. It's just a shame for the release date they didn't go with end of May or early June.
