Dear Evan Hansen Movie Has Found (Some Of) Its Cast

Initial casting is coming out about the forthcoming big screen adaptation of the smash hit musical Dear Evan Hansen.
Last week, Amandla Stenberg was announced as being cast as Alana. The role will be expanded in the movie and will include a brand new song for the character, co-written by show creators Pasek and Paul and Stenberg herself.
This morning, further casting has been announced. Nik Dodani will play the role of Jared Kleinman. Dodani has previously been in the movie Escape Room and Netflix show Atypical.
The initial casting announcement is completed with the news that Colton Ryan will play the role of Connor Murphy. Ryan was previously in the Broadway production understudying the roles of Evan, Connor and Jared and can currently be seen in the Sara Bareilles and Jessie Nelson TV series Little Voice.
Ben Platt is expected to reprise the role of Evan Hansen. The movie adaptation is being produced by his father, Marc Platt. Meanwhile, Kaitlyn Dever is set to play Zoe. No official announcement has been made on that casting yet.
Due to the uncertainty of current world events, the film doesn't currently have a release date but with casting being announced already, I'd expect this to be released in 2022, though don't be surprised if it is ready for the now regular December movie musical slot in 2021.
Whenever it comes out, I am excited to see how it transfers on the big screen. I just hope it can transfer the magic, emotion and important messages that the Broadway and West end versions of the show do every night.
