August Preview: Top 40 Shows To See This Month

July has come and gone with more theatres reopening their doors and a sense of normality slowly creeping in. As August approaches, there is more reason to celebrate as more major West End shows return as well as some fantastic shows up and down the country and even a handful of streams to enjoy. Here are 40 highlights for the month ahead:


Now - August 8th: TUCK SHOP WEST END

Now - August 21st: JOHN & JEN

Southwark Playhouse plays host to this new musical from Andrew Lippa. An emotional rollercoaster of a musical that explores the dynamics of family relationships. It stars Rachel Tucker and Lewis Cornay. Tickets from southwarkplayhouse.co.uk


Now - August 29th: THE CANCELLATION OF CRISPIN COX

August 1st - 14th: THE GARDEN THEATRE SUMMER FESTIVAL

Following last year’s amazing pop-up season in Vauxhall, The Garden Theatre returns this summer with a festival of exciting and eclectic work in a new pop-up theatre at St. Gabriel’s Halls in Pimlico. Tickets for all titles available from http://www.gardentheatre.co.uk/


Now - September 4th: JUST SO

A concert of the Stiles and Drewe musical at the Watermill theatre. The cast includes two 2021 graduates both making their professional debuts. Tickets from watermill.org.uk


August 2nd: I COULD USE A DRINK

Drew Gasparini's music makes the leap from stream to stage in this one night only production at the Garrick Theatre. With a cast including Luke Bayer, Billy Nevers and Maiya Quansah-Breed, tickets from nimaxtheatres.com


August 2nd - October 9th: THE WINDSORS: ENDGAME

August 3rd - October 16th: 2:22 A GHOST STORY

From August 5th: HEATHERS

From August 5th: TINA

The smash musical about the legendary Tina Turner returns to the Aldwych Theatre to continue its sold out run. With Aisha Jawando returning as Tina, tickets are available from tinathemusical.com


August 5th - 11th: THE DISTANCE YOU HAVE COME

August 6th: VIVO

Lin Manuel Miranda and Gloria Estefan star in this new animated musical comedy movie. It will be released on Netflix today.


August 6th - September 19th: RENT

Saturdays from August 7th: ALL THAT JAZZ

August 16th: DISNEY...ISH

August 17th - 21st: TELL ME STRAIGHT

From August 17th: EDUCATING RITA

From August 18th: CINDERELLA

From August 25th: BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

August 28th - October 2nd: STATEMENTS AFTER AN ARREST UNDER THE IMMORTALITY ACT

August 31st - September 29th: FEVER PITCH
