10 New Shows To Keep You Entertained This Week

The last week has seen announcement after announcement giving us reasons to be excited for the coming months. But there are reasons to get excited this week too as there are some great titles to enjoy both online and in person. Here are some of the best:


IN PERSON

WHAT?

Marry Me A Little is a celebration of Stephen Sondheim's best loved works starring Rob Houchen and Celinde Schoenmaker as two single strangers sharing a Saturday night of sweet fantasies and deep yearning while never leaving their apartments. This is the latest from The Barn Theatre whose production of Private Peaceful has just announced a West End transfer.

WHEN?

The show plays a limited run from October 16th until November 8th. Following this, Houchen will be back in the West End, reprising his role of Marius in Les Miserables.

WHAT?

Louise Dearman and Rachel Tucker are performing together for the first time since starring as Glinda and Elphaba in Wicked together as part of the West Ens Musical Drive In series. Expect numbers from their extensive theatre credits as well as the inevitable Wicked duets.

The concert is on Saturday 17th October at 2.30pm

WHAT?

Buyer & Cellar is a hilarious one man play starring Aaron Sidwell telling the (fictional) story of what happened when someone was employed to run Barbra Streisand's (real) shopping centre in her basement.

WHEN?

The show runs from October 14th until November 8th.

WHAT?

Southwark Playhouse will be hosting a series of live concerts from Christina Modestou every Sunday in October, starting tonight. Each week Christina will be joined by spcial guests with Waylon Jacobs joining her tonight and Oliver Tompsett next week.

WHEN?

The first show is tonight (Sunday 11th October) at 7pm with more shows on the 18th and 25th.

WHERE?

WHAT?

The Crazy Coqs at Zedel continue putting on shows from the West Ends finest to a reduced capacity with just 42 seats available for wach performance. Highlights this week include Hadley Fraser & Will Butterworth and shows from Six creators Toby Marlow & Lucy Moss.

WHEN?

Hadley Fraser & Will Butterworth perform on Sunday 11th October at 6.30pm and Tuesday 13th October at 8.30pm, with Marlow & Moss playing on Thursday 15th October at 6.30pm and 8.30pm.

WHAT?

The series of Tonight At The London Coliseum continues this week with a double act - the amazing Sharon Sexton and Rob Fowler who have performed together on stage in Bat Out Of Hell and Mamma Mia as well as released 2 albums together so far. With incredible voices, a great collection of songs both original and covers and banter like no other, this is a show you don't want to miss.

WHAT?

The Theatre Cafe continue their Night Cap series this week with sEvie Rose Lane. Watch her talk about her career with Paul Taylor-Mills and to sing songs that inspire her.

Seth Rudetsky continues his fabulous concert series this week with a concert from Beth Leavel. Beth's theatre credits include The Prom, Mamma Mia and Young Frankenstein.

The show is broadcast live at 8pm ET on Sunday 11th October which will be 1am in the UK. Catch a repeat on Monday 12th October at 3pm ET so 8pm in the UK.

WHAT?

The Shows Must Go On continues its 'The Greats On Tour' season this week with a performance from Alfie Boe. Filmed at the Royal Festival Hall on his 'Bring Him Home' tour in 2012, the concert features special guests including Matt Lucas, Melanie C and Tom Fletcher. It has just been announced Alfie will be reprising his role as Jean ValJean in Les Miserables so get yourself in the mood with this.

WHEN?

Originally due to be shown last week, it was delayed for a week to make room for an encore performance of The Phantom of the Opera. Catch it online from 7pm on Friday 16th October where it will be available for 48 hours.
