10 More Of The Greatest Musical Cast Lockdown Videos

A couple of weeks ago I posted the 12 best musical cast lockdown videos featuring greats such as Dear Evan Hansen, Les Miserables and Six.

Two weeks have gone and luckily the lockdown videos haven't stopped, so here are some more brilliant videos from the West end, Broadway and worldwide casts of some of our favourite shows.

WICKED

23 witches (Literally, I'm not being rude) from the West end cast of Wicked got together to record this special version of the closing number (and my personal favourite) 'For Good'. All of these actresses have played either Glinda or Elphaba on the West end stage (Or in Louise Dearmans case - both). The song is emotional enough at the best of times but put Corona into the mix and it's a sobfest!

HAIRSPRAY

The starriest video on this list. Cast members from the upcoming West end production, former productions and the movie got together (Well, they didn't but you know what I mean) to perform the iconic 'You can't stop the beat'. Kristin Chenoweth, Michael Ball, Harvey Fierstein, Nikki Blonsky and Andrew Rannells are among the legends lending their vocals to this performance. Unfortunately, John Travolta who plays Edna in the 2007 movie was too busy trying to learn the pronounciation of Idina Menzels name to take part in this.

BACK TO THE FUTURE

Playing for only 3 weeks in Manchester earlier this year, the adaptation of the classic film is a feast for the eyes. It will hopefully make its way to the West end stage when normality resumes but in the meantime here are the cast performing the classic Huey Lewis number 'The power of love'

THRILLER

The Michael Jackson musical was robbed of its closing night due to the pandemic so a cast of former stars including Peter Andre got together for this special version of 'Earth song'

SHOWSTOPPERS

If you haven't ever seen Showstoppers live, you are missing out. The group of highly talented improv artists make up a brand new musical on the spot every performance, guided by the audience suggestions. Ones I have seen in the past include a Jewish wedding called "I jew" and a singles cruise ship called "Tinder-tanic". Here they have made up a song in the style of Miss Saigon by Derren Browns request.

LEGALLY BLONDE

The original Broadway cast of Legally Blonde recorded a special new version of the opening number 'OhmiGod you guys' inspired by recent events.

BEAUTIFUL

The worldwide cast of the Carole King musical, including the legendary singer herself, got together to perform this gorgeous (Well, I couldn't call it beautiful) version of 'You've got a friend' in honour of The Actors Fund.

SPRING AWAKENING

The cast of the 2018 Hope Mill Theatre production of this controversial but amazing show reunited to sing two songs from it - 'The song of purple summer' as well as the song that really sums up 2018 so far 'Totally fucked'. The cast includes Tim Mahendran who was more recently found wowing audiences in &Juliet.

HAMILTON The original Broadway cast of Hamilton including Lin Manuel Miranda and Leslie Odom Jr. got together to surprise a young fan of the show with a lockdown version of opening number 'Alexander Hamilton'. What a lucky girl to have been in the Zoom where it happens.

SUNNY AFTERNOON With the weather looking like it's going to be nice this week. what better way to end this than with the original West end cast of the Kinks musical reuniting to perform the title track, along with a special guest in the form of Sir Ray Davies.

So what is your favourite out of these?

Are there any more I've missed?

Can I squeeze in a third instalment of this?
