It has been announced that all 41 theatres on Broadway will remain shut until September 6th at the earliest.
Theatres in New York closed on March 12th, just before West end theatres also went dark. While it does not come as a surprise that they will not be reopening this summer, it is still heartbreaking for everyone in the industry.
West end theatres are currently closed until June 28th. While a similar extension seems likely over here as well, it doesn't do anybody any good to speculate so we will wait to hear what the Society of London Theatre announces.
The two biggest countries for theatre in the world are unfortunately also the two countries with the highest deaths from Covid-19 so it looks like we'll have a bit longer to wait before we can go back to sitting in one of our beloved theatres.
